Emancipated Run Crew (“ERC”) is a grassroots running community, with diversity and inclusion at the heart of what we do. We are a group of runners who support, inspire and encourage black and brown runners to meet and exceed their fitness goals. Our aim is to provide a space and a voice to those who may feel excluded from the “mainstream” running community – to show that running is something that can and should be open to all.
We believe that running can be a powerful tool to make positive changes to a person’s physical and mental wellbeing. We want to encourage greater participation from the black and brown community regardless of age, gender, sexuality, size and ability. We want to create a safe space that celebrates our cultural identity and encourages our community to “Run Free”.
ERC is pleased to be partnering with Threshold Trail Series to expand our work by helping to facilitate access for black and brown people across trail events, such as Race to the King and Race to the Stones. By working in partnership with Threshold we seek to expand our goal of opening up spaces which have historically been difficult for black and brown to access, with the aim of increasing participation from communities that may have felt that they were excluded and unwelcome on the trails.
