Volunteers are the true event heroes

Nothing is possible without our wonderful volunteers who are there every step of our participant’s journey.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and supportive team of volunteers to help us make memorable weekends. You can get involved in several ways, from supporting at one of our Pit Stops, marshalling on the route, or being at the finish line to celebrate and reward participants with a medal.

Individuals

Want to get an insight into an Ultra Marathon event, without actually doing the miles? The volunteering spaces provide your perfect way in, as well as being a great way to meet new people. Apply by creating a quick account on our volunteer system, Liveforce. Once you’ve registered, you’ll find a number of different roles and shifts to choose from at both Race to the King and Race to the Stones.

Group takeovers

Could your club, team or company take over one of our key locations? We have opportunities for your group to take on our Pit Stops/ marshal spots on the course. Make it your own with decor and entertainment to be the most memorable spot on our participant’s trail. If you’ve got at least four people, we’d love to hear from you. The best takeover spot volunteers will be rewarded at the prizegiving.

Reasons to join the Threshold Team

Make a difference

Be part of the team that supports our amazing participants, who push themselves to the limits in order to complete incredible challenges while raising oodles for charity.

That extra bit of cheering and encouragement from the side-lines could be exactly what they need to get them across the finish line, so be that person, be that support!

Connect and have fun

Work with a diverse collection of people from across the UK and make relationships that have a lasting impact on your life. Who knows, you could meet your future partner, or best friend or just have a conversation that changes the path that your life is on.

Most of all volunteering is fun! Enjoy the people around you and take in the beautiful surroundings. If you’re a people person with a passion for the great outdoors, you could be the perfect Threshold volunteer.

Develop your skills

Volunteering will give you the chance to be a part of something bigger than yourself and put your own skills and knowledge to good use while also learning from others around you.

Being faced with challenges on a daily basis and having to deal with a mixture of personalities, you’ll be able to improve your teamwork, problem-solving, event management and people skills – the ideal candidate for future employers!

Rewards and benefits

Whether you support for one day, two days or more, all volunteers are eligible for a free entry into our Threshold Trail events for you or a friend!

Join us for 1 day and you can redeem a 50km entry, join us for 2 days and you can redeem a 100km entry. You will have up to the end of the following season to use your place.

In addition, all volunteers can enjoy:

  • Free, high-quality food throughout
  • Free hot and cold beverages
  • Free camping

  • Being part of a world-class team
  • That feel-good feeling that only comes from helping others

WHAT DIFFERENT ROLES ARE AVAILABLE AS A VOLUNTEER?

We offer a variety of roles which include being part of a pitstop team where participants can refuel ahead of the next leg of their journey, or being part of the finish team, where you will hand out medals and cheer our participants over the finish line.

HOW LONG CAN I VOLUNTEER FOR?

Volunteer shifts are 8 hours long and timings will depend on which pit stop or main site you are based at. On the weekend events, you have the option to do a volunteer shift on the Saturday or Sunday, or both if you wish.

CAN I CHOOSE WHEN AND WHERE I VOLUNTEER?

Yes within reason. We will aim to find a role and location that suits you. Please apply via the form and one of the team will be in touch to discuss further.

FAQ's: I've already signed up to volunteer

I HAVE SIGNED UP TO VOLUNTEER ON AN EVENT. WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO GET SOME INFORMATION ON WHAT I WILL BE DOING?

Once you have signed up, we will email you to confirm your volunteering spot on the event. We will then be in touch with all volunteers approximately 4 weeks prior to the event to provide more details on where you need to be and when, and also your role on the event itself. We will then be in touch again in the week leading up to the event to notify you of any updates or changes, and to check you have everything you need.

WHAT KIT DO I WEAR TO VOLUNTEER?

On the event you will be provided with a black Threshold t-shirt to wear, as well as a hi-vis which must be worn at all times to be identifiable to participants as well as other crew and volunteers.
